The other singer they tried was the singer from Exalt. Never heard them, so I can't comment. But as far as I know, it was planned like this right away with a few shows with the Exalt guy and then Jason taking over.

I'm more than halfway through his book now. It's... interesting. It has passages here and there that are brilliant in the way that you would expect from Keith but the novel seems to have absolutely no direction and the plot is just barely there. It's really just ideas and rants strung together with a loose plot. He really needed a better editor to help him either flesh out more of a plot structure or to tone back on the rants for this book to shine.

Yeah I'm about a fourth of the way and it was a bit confusing at first. The vagueness he explains the "incident" that takes place is more frustrating than cool. Plus the offsetting time frames of the chapters are annoying as well at times.
