"I use Powertabs to tab out stuff I have written."

Bwahaha! I used to do that. Then I got garageband and started recording it instead.

I like tabbing shit way better. I have loads of songs that I just recorded for the future so I wouldn't forget and now I have no idea what the chords and shit are and I'd have to figure it out. That's like 5 minutes of my life I would have to waste instead of just looking at the tabs I made. You feel me?

Yeah I have that problem, but mostly AFTER I've finished recording a song and haven't played it in a while. Then I'll go back to a solo and wonder what the hell I was playing. But tabbing is sooooo painful sometimes.

Tabbing can definitely be a bitch. Sometimes when I can't figure out the rhythm, I'll just tab a simplified version and after a few days I completely forget what it was supposed to sound like and that riff is now lost in time... like tears... in rain...

time...

to die..

I def would like to get a recording set up, but like Xing said, its also nice to see the music as well as hearing it. It does take up a lot of time, tho.

My recording set up is pretty cheap so you should go for it!

My laptop was like $500, my audio interface and mics were about $250 and Mixcraft was like $80. Of course, I pirated everything else I use such as plugins and shit and my guitar and whatnot costs far more than my recording gear but that's okay!

I used to occasionally write parts with ptb instead of a guitar because it made me step out of my comfort zone and try different things which I wouldn't normally play. Especially helpful for basslines.

I've found the rhythmic thing to be a particular nuisance too.

It does help you figure out that some notes sound like shit together though when you otherwise wouldn't notice

It would be pretty sweet if there was a tabbing program that could recognize the notes and rhythm you were playing and then automatically create the tab for you. Time to patent that idea?

Oh, yeah!

I appreciate your rapping and slightly off key singing. They could be quite the tag teamers.

Although, you can't patent an idea, unfortunately. One needs a system. This system can't be hard at all to code though. Recognizing notes and then putting them into staff notation? How hard could it be?

That definitely sounds like an idea worth making. Why hasn't it been made yet and if it has, why isn't it extremely well known?

We can all form a hip hop supergroup
