went on a massive attack binge last week.
protection is inches away from a 4.5, and i'd probably go so far as to say that the title track from that album is a better individual song than anything on here.

off protection i like three and sly better than the title track and neither of those are as good as at least half the tracks on here imo
but protection (the song) is smooth as fuck and lacks a lot of the grating dark textures that drive people away from this album. definitely a recommended listen

i mean, yeah, this album is definitely more consistent than protection (wtf is with the random live doors cover at the end), but the high points on that album are every bit as good as the high points on here.

the 'light my fire' cover is suuch a piece of garbage, which is ridiculous cause massive attack and the doors are probly both in my top 20 fav bands ever, and i actually like heligoland and blue lines better than protection. all their albums, incl 100th window's 'special cases' and 'live with me' off of collected, have some phenomenal tracks on them.

"Samurai Champloo would make a better live action"
^this. the only directors I'd trust Bebop in the hands of are David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino
