what im sayin is you dont have to be an amazing singer to sound great on a record like this. it's all about passion, energy, that stuff

sure technicaly he's not great i guess, idk much about what makes a good singer but like he's got range, dynamics and all that. even if he mostly uses the method of furious shouting

it's true that he's got passion and energy but he still pisses me off

my dad once got in an argument with me that punk would be better off if it had more melodic conventional vocals but then again he thought that new captain we're sinking album was heavily influenced by classic metal and that all ska has gypse swing influence so im honestly not even surprised at this point

he's rad he just has very very odd things to say about music and thinks he's much more well informed on the subject than he actually is

But that's part of the charm! I think I'd be weirded out if my dad came and showed me some kick ass experimental punk band. I'm much happier to see him sincerely rocking out to the lumineers.

I've got my dad into some good stuff. His favorite band is the Fleet Foxes, which, you know, you could do a lot worse than that. Never was able to get him into any punk, though. He's folk, through and through.

my dad once asked what my fav bands were so i said anco and btmi and he asked what anco played so i was like "well they play freak folk and weird experimental indie pop stuff i guess" and he was all "omg you didnt tell me you were getting into folk!!!" and i was like "uh idk if u got the right message from that" and he made me put on something off sung tongs for him and he turned it off 30 seconds in

That's still better than like 90% of dad taste, tho. Mine still occasionally puts it on country stations when we're on road trips and I just wanna jump out of the car.

Idk man Sung Tongs has been like my most played album recently. Such an eclectic collection of brilliant songs.
