I love Stephen Christian's voice and would take it over Morrissey's usually, but something about Morrissey's voice just perfectly captured the essence of that song.
I'll re-listen since I haven't heard in quite a while though.

for sure he is a technically better singer than morrissey but that song, as with most/all smiths songs, is so distinctly morrissey's personality and humour and style that it's hard to imagine anybody else doing it and having the same effect on me

I actually prefer Stephen's verses, but Morrissey does the chorus better. It's a pretty solid cover aside from the drum mixing. I also like Noel Gallagher's cover, which is a shame because I hate him and wanted to hate it

I vaguely know of the band name and the lead singers last name. I have probly heard them, but didn't realize it at the time. I am not too familiar with much music before the mid 90s except for a few random things here and there.
