"i like this better than both joy division albums"

me too. i like joy division but a lot of their songs could benifit from being a little less monotonous and a bit more dynamic. i get that it's post-punk but what i love about this album is that it has that post-punk sort of rhythm and gloomy atmosphere but the songwriting is more structurally varied.

antics is still at least a 4.5 for me, idk what happened to them after that though. none of their albums are actually bad but they went from putting out 5/4.5 albums to 3.5/3 albums. i'd probably like their new albums a lot more if i didn't have their old stuff to compare it to, but i don't understand how they dropped off so hard after antics.

also lol this band barely even sounds like joy division besides the baritone vocalist, this sounds more influenced by stuff like the comsat angels and the chameleons and pornography-era the cure. but i think it's actually pretty original sounding despite it's obvious retro post-punk influence.
