I normally wouldn't have bothered buying it but it really does sound better, and I like the black and gold color scheme for the artwork.

I honestly never liked the snare drum on this. It's too much of a crack instead of a...snare. There's no softening kshhh. Matt Bayles is amazing at everything but mixing snare.

If it's used right, the more open sounding snare sound is actually very cool, like on most of 10,000 Days and other Tool material. It's an unique sound I fortunately happen to like, although I rarely use it myself.

Oh wow I looooove it though. It really adds a lot to the atmosphere and one of my favorite aspects of this album.

That type of snare goes really well with the kind of riffs Isis play. Something about the open tonality of it with the tight crunchy riffs and clean passages of the guitars and bass, that's very pleasing to the ear.

Is the remaster worth picking up? I've only heard Beginning and the End and while it all sounds slightly clearer it really wasn't that noticeable.

Yeah I for one love the open snare. It's a needed contrast, cuts through the thick guitars a bit.

What's the difference with the Japanese edition?

The Japanese version comes with a DVD that shows a few live performances, that's the only difference.

Haha that's what I think every time I jam this Boris, another dimension.

Gonna bump this solely based on the snare sound and the drum fills in "The Other"

weight's cool but sometimes it feels like very little happens in it's entire ten-minute span

Kinda agree ford but when you're into it, doesn't feel quite as meandering.

Yea Weight is probably one of the most massive, sprawling tracks I've ever heard.
