But we could say that Made in Japan doesn't have original songs so yeah, might be best Purple but I don't think you can put it in the same category as MH or In Rock

You can still say it's a better album and the best representation of the band.

| |
I'm with JT on this one.
MiJ simply does the band more justice than In Rock, Fireball, Machine Head or Burn.

I'd say that MiJ is where they realized their full potential but it's as representative as any album of the band at the time of its release. I don't think it does more or less justice than the three big MK II albums because Child in Time for example is not that better live and Lazy is an improvisation whether it's live or in studio.
Having said that, if for some god forsaken reason I had to choose only one Deep Purple album I'd take MiJ because it's the one I enjoy the most and for the reason I mentioned above.

I think Made in Japan is the best representation of the band because it represents them performing at their absolute best and in the setting where they really excelled, not because it represents every side of the band better or because the individual songs are all necessarily that much better than the studio versions.

Lazy is really underrated. My fave tied with Pictures of Home

Mine are probably Pictures Of Home [2] and Highway Star.
