I find albums that are album to express a wide range od emotions in unconventional ways to be the best albums because they're able to satisfy my desire for risk-taking and creativity but they also show the musician(s)'s understanding of the world, the human spirit, etc.

yeah I see what you mean chan... don't know why that happens maybe it's just because that sort of mood really does wonders for the atmosphere, the 'epicness,' on the other hand though some of my favorite post-rock is the uplifting kind... Talk Talk, Spokes, DMST, etc.

"bleak = unconventional? if what you're saying is that darker music expresses the human spirit better, wouldn't that make darker music more conventional in a way?"
I said a wide range of emotions. I can go into greater detail on some of my fives if you think it's really needed.

if something tries really hard to be happy and uplifting, everyone is very quick to call it

cheesy

but if something is just depressive and dark and bleak all the way through, it is genius

discuss

life sucks so depressing stuff seems true, smart and real, like that smart atheist Russel guy said

in the

end life must be grounded on "unyielding despair"

life sucks so happy stuff seems forced and blind

i'm a joyful Christian (:D) though so I'm kinda peeking in from the outside (although i've been else

so that's my guess from experience, depressed/wistful screaming along with "Mr November" and

"Andria").
