One of the few albums where every single song is on the same level as one another; Not a weak point

throughout the whole album... Nas was only like 19 when he recorded this, when you compare this to odd

future wolf gang its hilarious. Still think Nas has sold out recently but really I couldn't think of

10 Jay-Z songs that are even comparable to these.

"life is good is pretty solid

definitely his best in years"

Couldnt disagree more. Hip Hop is Dead and Distant Relatives were way better than Life is Good, I don't even replay that album.

I'd put Pharcyde's first album ahead of this, its way more unique, even today. I think GZA is a lot better than nas so Beneath the Surface, Liquid Swords. MF DOOM's mm food and Madvillain are both better. Maybe talib Kweli and Mos Def's Blackstar, also Train of thought by Reflection Eternal. KRS-ONE's KRS-ONE.

but yeah i think this is the best album to start listening to hip hop, the beastie boys aren't going to get you used to the newer style

This is clearly the best in the genre imo. Or rather, it's clearly the best out of what I've been exposed to.

What do you think would compare? Not trying to sound douchey, I'm just amazed that anything could possibly even be close to this.
