Agreed ...and if you search YouTube you can find a quadraphonic mix of the two sides that sounds immaculate.

Well this rules as expected. m/

I’m surprised everyone doesn’t just have the rip of the two combined. I often forget that this album was even released as two discs

Tbh the first disc alone is just an explosion of some of the best metal I've ever heard, but combined it elevates it to no end.

Au Pays Natal/Sol and Itinerant/Ross 128 are the business. All the songs are great here though.

I started with Wake/Lift, then Determinism. Found this to be quite heavy in comparision
Btw does anyone actually listen to the ambient tracks on their own?

Not normally but if I just need background noise I'll turn them on.

I'm one of the weird ones that prefer disc 1 alone, actually.

The only ambient track that can stand on its own for me is Ross 128, but mainly only because the melodies are revisited on some track of Wake/Lift (maybe Red in Tooth and Claw?)

its Red in Tooth and Claw, yes.
Which was amazing to realize when W/L dropped.
|

Yes, I feel really fortunate that I was intimately familiar with this album before I heard W/L. When that riff first hit, I got crazy goosebumps.

RITAC is just nonstop chills yeah. That center section bangs so hard.

Agreed, one of their best tracks.

The tracks here are too repetitive but the sheer scale and spectacle of it all is enchanting enough to make up for it.
