the Rolling Stone review of this said the song styles were similar to that of Nirvana.

Just a friendly reminder that the previosuly mentioned magazine rated bangerz with a 3

It's no worse then the music video for In the End

the music video for Death Blooms is... a thing that's for sure

It's no worse then the music video for In the End

Actually both videos are well constructed, the only problem with in the end is that the technology used to recreate certain scenarios in the video of in the end nowdays is outdated as hell

Worse nu metal videos are last resort, charlotte, my way, butterfly and rollin

"Although I would like to be the last to admit it, if it wasn't for nu-metal, I wouldn't like the more extreme music that I love today. When you're a thirteen-year-old and you're already sick of the computer-generated boy bands and pop princesses, you're next step out of the mainstream isn't going to involve buying an Opeth album. For my sixth-grade brain, I was convinced that Slipknot, System of a Down, Korn, Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, and Linkin Park were the complete opposite of the pop kings, when they were actually aiming for the same goal."

Such a perfect summery of why I used to dig all that shit

I wouldnt quite say they were aiming for the same goal. Especially not mudvayne. This album is a far cry from accessible music, in fact its no accessible then most Opeth releases

idk man, stuff like Dig is so so easy to dig, back in my Slipknot, LP, System days I would have lapped this up. That being said, this record does admittedly have a lot more depth to it than its contemporaries and the samples scattered across it would have probably put me off a bit

On the above point, this album is probably an important bridging album for me between nu-metal and exploring other genres more. L.D. 50 is undeniably a nu-metal album, yet it kinda paled about 85% of other nu-metal albums. Effectively got me off my arse and searching for other interesting stuff.
Probably one of the reasons I was proper into prog metal for a while actually.

Totally agree. I discovered this after i'd gotten out of the nu-metal rut I was in and started exploring, it was interesting to stumble into this and compare it to what I used to love

Prod is like Aenima era tool with harsh vocals, this album has quite a bit of prog influence throughout it which they had basically abandoned by their 3rd release and then it really turns into a shitfest from then on

the TOOL army are the worst, they truly live up to their name and act as TOOLs music is some pathway to opening one's third eye and learning the secrets of the metaphysical realm and all that horseshit. Yet there I was thinking they were an above average progressive metal act
