Love this album, its truly an hypnotizing commentary on society, enveloped in a sort of dreary atmosphere and lyrical content that matches that of society itself

There are some good parts despite the cheesiness. I may drop my rating to a 3.5 with a few more listens though.

I really try to enjoy PT, but their music can feel so forced and robotic sometimes. I suppose Steven Wilson is part of that. I'm not a fan of his singing most of the time. He can be so cold and emotionless.

His vocals do their job. Its never what PT have been about, especially on their first 4 albums which were largely instrumental based.

Yeah he is a great musician, no doubt. His strengths definitely lie in writing and instrumentation, not vocals.

Lowered my rating to a high 3.5, still great but lacks energy at times.

I actually love his vocals, and there's a lot of passion in his vocals, how about on Lazarus for instance? They're not extremely diverse but they definitely do the job imo

Damn I don't remember the last time I thought that about PT, or if I ever have. I fell in love with the band almost immediately, and all eras.

I still need to check out their older stuff. People keep telling me I may enjoy it more. I really can't say why it's so hard for me to get into this band when I enjoy a lot of similar stuff. It's the same story with Tool.
