This remastered version is so much fun. Surely not as authentic as original, but the clearity is so much better so you can hear much more clearly how amazingly Mustaine was playing in 80s. Metallica kicked best thrash guitarist ever and become the most popular metal band of all time. That never stops to amaze me.

There's a lot of charm in virtuoso playing obscured under dogshit production though

Sure should. It has lot of the same elemets that made early metallica so great, hence early Mustaines amazing song writing skills and talent.

Original production is so perfect for me, I love how it's almost 70s-ish in feel. The mix isn't always ideal but it's compensated by the general crispness of the sounds which alleviates it. Plus my early CD copy (CDMFN 46) has excellent dynamics that make it a pleasure to jam hard, which I can't say about the brickwalled Final Kill edition

starting my megadave journey, in part due to budgie. man this goes hard as fuck. absolutely unhinged solos and so many sweet riffs. also great bass! the speed on this is crazy but i actually like the more drawn out looking down the cross the most maybe. but also t/t, last rites/loved to deth and rattlehead. all really good songs except the cover. vocals are crazy and a little weird but they fit the jams hard. can't wait to dig in more.
