I've never really gotten the hate for it.
RAISE UP THE BANNER, BEND BACK YOUR BOWS is such a killer line, and the sincerity that he delivers the last line is just too good

I mostly remember the opener and it sucks

It's the most preachy song here. Borderline CCM lyrics.

"It's the most preachy song here. Borderline CCM lyrics."
it's extremely preachy but Of Dust and Nations gives it a run for its money
"I know, it's great"
both points are true

"preachy"
If you wanted to listen to half of available good music in that era, you had to kind of deal with that part of it lol

Music Box crushes both of those songs for being pure CCM lyrics and it's not close, surprised it wasn't mentioned. Opener track is fine because it bangs and it really doesn't seem that preachy to me without diving deeper.
Dust of Nations I just pretend it's about God Emperor of Dune and it's perfect.
Music box is literally WE ARE NOT ALONE, WE FEEL AN UNSEEN LOVE. WE ARE SONS AND HEIRS OF GRACE, WE ARE CHILDREN OF A LIGHT THAT NEvER DIMS, A LOVE THAT NEVER DIES. Just literally a xtian rock chorus
And it still kinda bangs.
|
| |
I probably give Music Box a pass because it's much more interesting to me

Catching some influences from this in the new Hidden Mothers album. If y’all haven’t listened to that and are a fan, I highly recommend!
