"these guys should release a live album asap, they always sound better live"

i feel like the climax wasn't as intense as it was on the record but his screams sound better

Unfortunately I missed the Webster Hall show since I bought the tickets and ended up moving before the show.

Still really disappointed in how disjointed and rushed their new album was. Like really, you couldn't tune your guitar correctly before recording that one transitory riff? or nobody told you that solo sounded like a sack of crap? Whole thing was just a mess of "oops we ran out of time lol"-isms.

Feel like you want but New Bermuda is amazing. Now it's not necessarily on Sunbather level but very few albums are but New Bermuda rules so hush that. Sunbather is truly one of those once in a lifetime jaw-droppers. Sunbather is one of those albums that makes you shout to the gods. Seriously. It's one of the greatest albums ever. If you expected another I can see your stance but these guys were also backlashed to hell and back for Sunbather. I see no wrong in going full black metal yo

not to be that one drunk guy on the internet, but your opinions are fanboyisms at best and at worst just meh or something idk. New album wasn't objectively that bad but given their history as a fairly consistent band, the lack of consistency and obvious flaws throughout the release make its failures even worse by comparison.

Actually I don't really see the disjointed mess of New Bermuda everyone else sees. It's a damn good album. Everything seems to flow very fluidly. And "Luna" is probably the best song the band has ever done, imo. If that's "fanboyism" then cool but I still have yet to find another blackgaze band on Deafheaven's level

Well Sunbather is considered pretty shoegaze with a bit of black metal. New Bermuda dropped a lot of the shoegaze to go full black metal

Sunbather is more like 60% shoegaze 40% black metal. New album is 10% shoegaze, 85% black metal, and 5% metal core

new bermuda still had quite a lot of post-rock-y moments

I'm pretty sure I counted one time just 'cus and of the full tracks, over half the time was spent blasting or double-basing. So it was well over 50% bm, objectively. Also using chugs doesn't equal metalcore. If it did then Dead as Dreams would've been a crust punk record.
