As much as I liked Chi, his basslines were hardly the staple of the band.

I agree to a certain extent. I do feel like he really influenced the overall scheme of songs though. I'll say quite a few of my favorite songs are because of Chi. Cherry Waves, Konami Code, due to his bass playing and then songs like My Own Summer and Needles and Pins are made for me by Chi's backing screams.
