Need to do another tool discog run through.

Love the first half of this album, but then it tanks with filler.

"jambi is like middle 5 tool tho"

I mean it's not as good as, say, Party Rock Anthem, but I still think it deserves top 5

Kinda weird. I love so many bands that are influenced by Tool and their style, but not actual tool albums in general. Like, Karnivool, Breaking Orbit, Lucid Planet, Deftones, Katatonia, Wheel, etc. all better for me.

I agree a lot with that second comment, Observer. I've always been kinda bugged that the Wings suite happens so early in the album

That was my main change and complaint, other than some interlude swaps, which i dont see why they packed em in all in the 2nd half to begin with. Anyway, it makes me really like this one more now lol

Even rosetta stoned, which was my least favorite by far seems to work better earlier on

That fuzzy c sharp note leading up to the e minor bass drone is genius

Whoever did the "fan remaster" of this that is circulating on the internet is a genius. The drums are completely declipped and overall the "mixing" sounds so much more refined than the original, with smoother guitar and much better dynamic range.

I have used many remastering VST plug-ins throughout my career as a musician, but I never thought it would be possible to take a metal album in its final form and improve its sound without sacrifices. Well, this guy did it somehow. Tool should hire him for their next LP.

Apparently he also remastered Fear Inoculum.

Yeah FadedSun, tell us! Egarran, what do you think about the fan remasters?

I heard Vicarious and it didn't wow me. But there is a difference.

Yeah of course, it's because 10,000 Days doesn't have the worst production in the world (it's quite decent), it just sounds bad by Tool's standard. The most noticeable difference between the original CD and this fan remaster is during intense drumming passages, where the remaster has more control. I also feel the guitars sound smoother and larger, no idea how he did it or whether is a good thing or not, but the end result sounds like an improvement to me.
