Peak Opeth for sure, at least post-Ghost Reveries.

Oh my, Nepenthe is one of their all time best tracks. The combo of Axe/Mendez is so good there. Shines on the whole album of course, but it's most pronounced here.

Still absolutely love this but I don’t think it’s my fave any longer (Any of the first 3 and Still Life are great for this time of year) Still top 3 though.

It always competed with Morningrise, MAYH, and GR for best Opeth for me. But it is still in 1st, 2nd, 3rd (or, most unlikely, 4th) place for sure. This revisit changed nothing about that.
Too damn good.
PC is next, let's go!

Eternal Rains is 100% wonderful though, dreamy and gorgeous. Still holds up, still one of my fave Opeth moments.
You should Ectier.

I get that. Happened to me too the first few years it was out there. But it eventually clicked and there's been nothing like it ever since.

Theres parts where i really wish Mikael was a tad more forward on the mix its the same on Pale communion. His voice gets a bit muddled in places.

Perhaps it helps if you approach it as a sensational rhythm-section album. Axe and Mendez are insanely good on Heritage, and they're nicely upfront!

Yea, its really good. Just seems weird that mike is weirdly placed I think its just one of the things prog rock opeth has. I really have to congratulate them on the fact that they went "fuck it lets just go all in on prog rock and not care what people think" with this record. Some of this has some good grooove
Pre emptive 4. I really like the atmosphere this has. Slither is niiiiiice

I think this is the closest they have gotten to the 90s-early 2000s Opeth magic. Its really good, i think its defiantly a grower. MYAH became my top Opeth after some time

I mostly feel frustration with that song. Do we just ignore that it takes almost 3 minutes to get going? Then some random dad sounds happen, 80's guitar, 70's bleeps and bloops, distant vocals for some reason and wth is that ending? It just stops.
Wish I had your ears.

This kinda sums up my problems with the album as a whole tbh
