I think that if there's anything to be learnt from the last however many years of Lana del Rey, it's that her "heavier" topic matter is all but useless outside of a personal context. Her old abuse-fantasy schtick at least had an edge to it, but I can't think of anything I'd less rather hear than disconnected white musings about The State of Culture In America over boi-isn't-this-tasteful blandness from the gentrifier in chief of mainstream art pop. Blue Bannisters is the bestest - the production has flavour and rough edges, and she finally sounds like she's singing about something more than a vanilla collage of social media excepts again
