I guess this is my problem: I hate the first half of Mordecai (love the second half though). Really boring and uninspiring IMO, like the first 3 songs on this album. Since Mordecai is everyones favorite I guess it's just me that hates their way of playing guitar in the fast paced, heavy parts (very anti-melodic, lifeless in a way, in your face for the sake of being in your face and sounding deadly). Like I said earlier, they must be coming from another side of music that enjoys that style of metal. I was just guessing when I said hardcore and deathcore. It sounds like crap to me, but oh well, opinions opinions.



And going to melodic metal core, it’s not like the main verses by bands like killswitch engage are particularly “better” objectively. The guitar work is based more on following a melody, from alternate picking to powerful riffs. With BTBAM their main verses either drag with palm muting or don’t make since melodically in alternate picking. They rarely use melodic riffs for their verses. It just sounds more single minded to me, and plus the fact that I’m used to melodic metalcore. BTBAM does use a lot of melodic stuff which they are perfect at.

Dude, I can't stand music that doesn't make me move. I either dance, sing, scream or head bang to the music that I like. That helps me though, and it explains why I don't like the first half of mordecai.
