Is this Unbound EP just gonna be a stripped back version of the rest of the tracks?
She already did Liminal acoustic live a bunch but it’d be cool to have that on streaming. And if this is the case I’m really intrigued on how she’ll pull off Unseen World.

A shame that some tracks in the middle are not as exciting as the first or last ones, otherwise this would be my AOTY.

Still can't believe I'm going to see her on Halloween, where do you even go from there, it's all downhill after that

She played the whole of this and favourites from Unknown Rooms to Birth of Violence, spent the whole gig in awe. Her voice is otherworldly and the chemistry between her and the band (especially Jess) meant her voice had plenty of room to breathe - they knew just when to pull things back. If you get chance to see her on this tour you owe it to yourself to go.

Jess is a ridiculously talented drummer. She fucking crushes it on House of Self Undoing

Unbound is a nice way to round out this album cycle, not counting next year's Aus/NZ tour
The Liminal works best in this 'unplugged' format, which Chelsea Probably knows since she only performs that version live

I like the original versions of all of these tracks more tbh but I’m always glad to have more Chelsea.

I didn’t expect much but was genuinely surprised how much I enjoyed these stripped-down versions. Ironically though, they made me jam the original album even more so often.

Looks like her next album will be going down the acoustic route, she's also been working with a different songwriter

Where did you hear that? I just watched her interview with fantano and she mentioned Annie Lennox as sort of a reference point for the new material

Same source as you! What I gleaned from that was that she was wanting to go in an acoustic direction again, but that it wasn't set in stone.

Gotcha, I'll have to put in on again. I was pretty feverish when I listened to it so it's likely something got lost in the rambling lol

oh bummer tbh, I’ll listen to the interview myself for sure but if she goes the acoustic route I hope there’s a lot more collaboration than on Birth of Violence. I think that’s pretty easily her weakest LP.

I think the big difference between BoV and She Reaches Out/Unbound is the quality of the songwriting, I don't think she needs to work with external songwriters but it sounds like she wants to do it almost as a challenge for herself.

If I’m not mistaken, Dave Sitek was largely responsible for how this record turned out. I’m pretty sure I remember Chelsea saying it was a lot more of a straightforward rock kind of thing before he came on board.
I love Chelsea, I think she is a great songwriter and an even better vocalist, but it’s really clear that when she surrounds herself with even more talent we get absolute bangers like this record.
I mean shit, imo we went from her worst record to literally her best…
