Well those just happen to be the only two songs I’ve heard off this lol
I’m not saying more Loathe is a bad thing, these songs are really good. it’s just that those songs sounded a bit derivative of Loathe, who already sound quite derivative of of Deftones. That being said my music probably comes off as pretty derivative of La Dispute (amongst other bands) so I guess there’s nothing wrong with that per se. I’ll listen to the rest of this and see how I feel.

Never heard of this band before but holy shit this record slaps, easily one of my favorites of the year thus far, loving the jazzy breaks and weird interludes between all the crazy af riffs and rhythm section. So glad to see so many heavy bands take on a more adventurous sound

I went back and listened to Firsthand Accounts just to make sure the “newness” wasn’t my reasoning for liking this as much as I do…and I still like this one just a touch more because as the review states, it expands their sound in such a good/natural way. I’m honestly surprised this is getting dragged somewhat in the comments (rating aside). I’m loving this whole thing front to back.
