How can prefer the watered down radio-rock riffs of SFV to these I can't even.
Because at least there's some variation in that album. I only have to listen to like 2 songs from this album and I've already got my fill/had enough of the same style shrill-vocals and over the top speedy metal. Plus the songs on SFV are far more memorable than most of the songs on here.

In this case, yeah.

Constant speedy assault > semi-interesting to pretty damn lame "variation"
An album with memorable songs and some actual soul to it > semi interesting, occasionally monotonous speedy assault.

Well obviously it's subjective. IMO there's a hell of a lot more soul in SFV than in this, which for me is one of the most soulless Priest albums I've heard (that doesn't mean to say I think it's one of the worst though because it obviously isn't).
Good day sir :]
