I’m not sure I really count this as an out and out folk album but if it is then it’s my favourite since Callahan’s double ‘Sheepskin’

"enjoyable album that's held up by its warmth and charm more than any actual standout songwriting. it's enjoyable but almost impossible to listen to from front to back. cool that sputnik is united in liking a straight up folk album like this but I don't understand why this gets so much attention when countless more interesting folk albums get overlooked"

this guy legit thinks Big Thief is a folk band

I mean, they are a folk band? Obviously their stuff covers the range between straight folk, indie folk, and indie rock, but the core of Lenker’s songwriting is definitely very much folk.

Imagine having Emo, alt-rock, and post hardcore as 3/4 of your top genres and thinking you can chip in to a discourse

I think I prefer Two Hands more but there are some super duper winners on this, too.

Two Hands is their fourth best to me, this one is a masterpiece, I can't get over how much of a joy it is to listen to

Haven't felt drawn to an album like this since Fetch the Bolt Cutters

Two Hands is my favourite, even if the production plays it more straight with the core elements of the band. I just like the songwriting the most on that one, and they're great performers. Overall sound is super nice.

This one is good, too. They're a good band in general.

I love 'Shoulders' on Two Hands. Yeah, just like that album in general. It's definitely my fave from the band.

Agreed. Strong and raw energy. It's a great song.

I'm not sure I like the kick drum clipping on 'Heavy Bend', personally. I think it swallows the moment a bit.

"Not" is not a not good song. In fact, it is not one of their not best songs.

I kinda like the kick on heavy bend. It’s intense and somehow just works for me
