Dead Men not getting much representation isn't a surprise, given the backlash to it

@Freakmachine they only played Catastrophist from Dead Men. Bit ironic since the tour was called "Deadmen and Dragons" lol

LOL

@MyMentality I know they've neglected it, and I was saying that was down to the album not being particularly well received by fans

Album is immense. My favourite Trivium record in all honesty.

"Dead Men not getting much representation isn't a surprise, given the backlash to it"
the consensus on that album was very positive among their immediate fanbase, no?
they played the t/t and amongst the shadows and stones when i saw them (and t/t and shadow from this album). seems like they've been going out of their way to play stuff from every album since covid ended, or at least the good ones.

I love that these guys were able to overcome the mediocrity slump that many bands encounter at this stage of their career tbh.

I don't think I agree. this is pretty uninspired DnD metal with good instrumental performances but I just feel nothing from it. it's not bad enough to get a lower rating but not memorable enough to return to.

Alex I'm sorry, I thought the previous two albums were better than this but I'm also the weirdo that would put In Waves at #1 (Sin and the Sentence was #1 for a while but it wore off a bit)

I agree with Venin, but I think most Trivium albums suffer from this too. They're serviceable, but not super memorable.

Yeah like this isn't bad by any means but I can't get past the "Shogun-lite" feeling I get and honestly I'm more intrigued by Heafy's side project Ibaraki because it feels more bold and experimental, where this is kinda what you expect from one of the more fantasy-based metalcore bands. Alex Bent's drumming carries this.
Lyrical content was better on the last two albums, which is the biggest difference to me.

Lyrical content lol

Lyrics on this are fine. Don't see how they're a downgrade at all, and especially not why lyrical content should be much of a factor when listening to Trivium of all bands. I don't get you veninblazer haha.
