Funny I didn't like Book of Souls at all and was very surprised I dig this so much. Not sure about sounding old, the guitar melodies and solos are superb imo and bruce's vocals are a bit gruffer but suit the music

Same. Did a rough AOTY list draft yesterday and honestly this is ranking way higher than I expected.

Yeah boiz same, i could not get into book of souls or final frontier for that matter. But the riffs on dis lil beauty are just consistently of such a high quality, the gallops are gub, the smouldering tempos smoulder, dere be sum great solos and even if bruce ocasionally lacks impact, the choruses themselves are generally written well. To the point where the album feels like a spiritual successor to AMOLAD somehow. It has that same hypnotic, melodic drawn out songwriting with a strong emphasis on the refrains m/

WOTW Last!?

I actually think the context of the album made me realise what a stand out track it is and why they chose it for the single. Yeah just for the solos even, feels the song that has the heart of iron maiden the most for me on the new album.

I think this has more rough patches and is more uneven than TBOS, the highs are higher and the lows are lower. But luckily there are more highs than lows. And Days of Future Past is their best straight forward metal song in 20 years!

"Truly among the worst."

tbh I'm currently on Writing On the Wall and I'm kinda sympathizing more with this if the rest of the album is on par with this shit.

Why the fuck was the title-track 6 minutes long when it barely feels justified.

This is still pretty bad yeah. Alot of the maiden fans are even coming out since the hype is done and saying it's pretty subpar

ehhh months later this album is still a huge snoozefest. don't wanna 3 it so I won't rate it :3

at least Senjutsu got me to listen to AMOLAD for the first time with actual patience and giving it a chance and I'm happy to say it's become one of my favorite Maiden albums. But this... yeah... The Parchment is cool I guess
