Ask 5 different people, you get 5 different songs. That equates to masterpiece.

Agree. This will go down as a great album. For me best is Human is Hell and the preceding Sfumato. Got chills when the lead riff comes back in a third time around the 13 minute mark

"Yeah tbh if there was one thing I could change about this album it'd be to remove those fake keys from the first half of Monochrome. They remind me of that build a bitch song lmao"

As I said in some previous comments, I think that they are at the point as a band where they're comfortable, and knowing that they have an incredibly loyal and passionate following, they are confident enough to just head into the studio, and do exactly what they want to do without worrying to much about how they fit into any given scene or crowd, which was apparently a big concern of theirs following Alaska, being caught between the metalcore and progressive metal scenes. I think that they wanted to try something different with the last few albums, and probably just reached the point with the pandemic and having extra time to jam and write, where they wanted to genuinely challenge themselves by returning to the era of their discography that holds the most reverence, interpreting the framework in a new light. I think that they are completely self-aware and embrace the wank, and imo, this record shows that they know how to better incorporate it into the sound that made them so engaging and unique in the first place. But I guess that if you're not into them, this perspective won't mean much anyway, and to each their own. lol
I just can't imagine a more perfect album by these guys honestly, and am still floored by how they managed to exemplify nearly every bit of their sound and identity with these tracks. I genuinely wouldn't change anything about it, which means a lot, given that I was truly not that captivated by what they've been doing over the last decade.

My thoughts pretty much exactly. They're truly in top form on this album, and there's so much care and detail put into it. And they're just having fun on top of it.

Im standing by it Fernando. Sun, Ants, and Selkies will always be my favorite songs, but this album as a whole is the pinnacle for me.
