I’m a Dealer man, myself. Easily their best and yet to be topped. But the new one can definitely do that if it holds its quality. Greyhound is prob my favorite song this year so far.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense now. There's definitely something of a divide in fanbase between their earlier emo stuff and their more grandiose albums of late. The new song is definitely among my favorites of 2024 thus far as well.

Yeah. I actually found these guys in October 2014. They were opening for Brand New. And all they had was The Albatross. I freaking loved their performance and became a fan immediately. And when Dealer came out, it felt like a more somber Albatross, like a late-night version of that album. Then afterward I’m trying to figure out what the hell happened. I’m not against them moving to a more grandiose art rock sound, but it needs to also not be grating as hell. The new song almost reminds me of Neon Bible era Arcade Fire, especially the second verse.

Dealer is def their best imo, not many seem to share the same sentiment though lol

Dealer is def my least favorite but it honestly has some of my favorite Foxing tracks on it. I love Night Channels, The Magdalene, and Eiffel.
Sucks that it seems like they’re kinda cold on it. I don’t think they’ve ever played any tracks from that record, aside from Night Channels, in any of the times I’ve seen them : /

I did kinda forget how hard the last half of Grand Paradise went. Kind of a shame the first half of it is nearly unlistenable garbage I have to skip past. But that last half does really set off the serotonin in my brain

I only got into them when Nearer My God came out, come to think of it I think they were my last show before the covid shutdowns, and I think they were the first after.
I love these guys sm

Foxing has replaced the BN-mwY-Thrice triumvirate for me. Not saying they sound alike, just that I like these guys every bit as much as I did those bands in the 2000s-2010s, which is about as high a compliment as I can pay any band.
My new trio of power is Manchester Orchestra-Foxing-(???). Not sure of the third because while I could easily say Fleet Foxes, they don't exactly fit the mold of existential/experimental alt-rock with underlying demons. Maybe The Republic of Wolves.

One thing I'll say is I really hope they do not release any more singles from the new album. I want everyone to hear it all at once.

I think it’s either Eiffel or Indica for me but damn I do love them a ton too. Or at least their first few years. Super excited for the new album too

Dealer is such a poorly tracklisted album, has some of their absolute best songs and some truly terrible stuff just randomly thrown together. album's just a mess

yeah that I kinda agree with. I don’t think it ever gets terrible but it just has so many long stretches where the songs sound so similar.
I love the vibe the record has but yeah not a lot of variety imo. Albatross had more going on and in a shorter time so I think that’s why people dig that record more. Plus there’s no huge sounding sing along along anthems like The Medic and Rory.
Like last tour, just Eric and Conor were onstage for Rory, so literally just vocals and a pretty minimal guitar lead, and everyone screaming the lyrics nearly drowned out the band. There’s just nothing on Dealer like that.

I think my biggest complaint is the last two tracks being absolute nothingburgers, album absolutely shoulda ended with Eiffel. plus Laundered is maybe their worst song
I legit can't remember if they played anything off Dealer when I saw em lol. maybe Night Channels? they definitely knew all the NMG songs were absolutely clearing it for live shows

Yeah you’re right, Nearer My God (the song) totally has the same effect as those two I mentioned. The crowd goes fucking wild for that song.
