"and a band like The National, much like Radiohead, likely has legions of rabid fans that would find a way to prove that the album is actually genius"

yes, but it's not like Green Day fans are the type to go all pseudo-intellectual on you the way, say...Tool fans are, or Radiohead fans. and Pablo Honey still manages to have a decent enough average befitting of its quality.

yeah, I've never seen Green Day fans get on their high horses and try to justify their opinions by making sweeping statements about the intersection between genre and acclaim, inventing numbers, and forcing tenuous comparisons with other artists oh wait
and yeah ian this is probably the least toxic meme thread I've seen in sput in a good while, maybe read the comments before making that judgement next time lol

If you don't already own a switch ya it's worth it, but if you already own one I wouldn't bother

ehhh i mean for me it's just that i notice certain trends on this site and that certain artists are basically untouchable, they could make absolute shit and still be untouchable. i'd probably sooner jam this again than Afterburner and that's probably the only record on DGD's end that shows much sign of any backlash comparatively. Radiohead kinda slumped with their last record yet that's a 4.1?

Idk man, after seeing the mixed reaction to RevRad I kinda just figured the hate was because it was Green Day trying to do Dos all over again (which, actually is understandable since Dos was trash), but frankly, this was a good bit better than that at best and at least doesn't have anything as bad as "Nightlife". and unlike most bad albums, this is at least done before it has a chance to get insufferably boring to me.

Afterburner is probably the second worst album of 2020 behind this
