The Middle is one of their weakest songs

No harm in disliking this, Sloth! But I am interested to see if your thoughts change having the context of their discography in mind.

Never understood the 23/Futures hype, the first 5 tracks on that album make the rest look like a whingy set of Myspace demos written by a man afraid of his own pizza cutter, and most of Integrity is similar. Need to explore this band's uptempo stuff more (probably including this)...

EDIT: Relistening to 23 now and as far as pop punk bands playing Keane go, this is pretty ok

Futures is definitely front loaded as far as initial impact goes. It took a while for me to appreciate drugs or me and nothingwrong, but over the years the album wouldnt work as well as it does without them. I do wish the momentum up to Pain could have been carried all the way through sometimes though, but it probably wouldnt resonate the same i guess. When 23 starts playing, it sounds earned.

23 had to have been written before Keane’s debut

Futures is fucking great and is undoubtedly their best album, while 23 is undoubtedly their best song.

Drugs Or Me may be number 2, hard to say off the top of my head. It’s definitively second best off Futures though.

Hey whats up guys. I wanted to just keep it real and say I haven't been here in a long time. Here we go again... Another person who admits they were a cocky son of a bitch in the past and is now writing a list where he (or she) goes on and on. I will keep it real and say I am a straight man who was uncomfortable with the amount of privilege I was born into (also had some toxic masculinity misogynistic problems). Enjoying music was a great escape from the boredom of the sheltered life i was raised in. Like many others my mom was more understanding but my dad, who was amazing as fuck and taught me so much dope shit about how to be smart, I can't help but think his closemindedness made me the control freak I am today. So anyway, I turned to sputnik when i was 17 or so when I sorta just moved with my family to southern california. It sorta went hand and hand with getting into smoking weed and being more open minded about music. (a lot of music my dad talked shit on so I never get a chance)

@Sowing what changed about your approach to rating? If it was a change in your approach to rating and not a recent drop in your appreciation for a bunch of albums.

My approach tends to be out of 10, similar to IGN's scale:

10 = Masterpiece

9 = Amazing

8 = Great

7 = Good

6 = OK

5 = Mediocre

...

Then I just half whatever number I come up with to get my rating out of 5.
