I'm calling him an incredibly important part of the band. In addition him being the only original member left in the band. If he's gone, it's not the same band. Same goes for The Cure - Robert Smith is the only original member of the band left.

Haste the Day is one of my favorite Metalcore bands and I think now they have 1 original member, wtf. Never been a huge fan of The Almost.

I don't know how he left, whether on good or bad terms. If he got kicked out then I guess he could sue for them to change their name but if he "left" then he gave up his right of opinion with the band.
