yeah this band has like no songwriting skills whatsoever lmao theres good moments here and there and its nice hearing them remember theyre a heavy band (the random low from dan is rad albeit very strangely placed in the song lol) but it is a mess

Yea, the lacking songwriting is one of my biggest gripes with the longer cuts by this band. This and Polaris have some tunes though.

What's more TesseracT then dropping a whopping 11 minute "single" lol

Can't even remember if this had the same clean singing as on the new song. Not a big friend of his voice and vocal effects on that tbh.

The classic tesseract tropes are still here, that's something. I'll probably have to listen to it 50 more times before it actually clicks.

Dan needs to write better vocal melodies

Yeah this one gets boring, I'm really glad he's mixing more screams in it though to break the monotony

New song is pretty gool, but I'm puzzled why they chose to release it as a single over Natural Disaster. Feels like it's a tune that makes more sense when listening to the album as a whole.

Idk why it took me so long, but Ashe had the superior melodies and thus the better vocals. It's simple as that. His vocals in Voices of the Fuselage are superb. The instrumentation there isn't that interesting tho. Second album was better than the first

Yeah divisive band remains divisive it seems.

I like the new thing. But the shit is 11 minutes, I'll listen to it again tomorrow.

Interesting move to release an album that is barely half an hour long, then five years later the first thing released for the new album is 11 minutes.

it's got its moments for sure. I'll always be a sucker for the clean guitar tones and melodies this band makes, even if they are simple. so atmospheric.

Dan had better melodies in Skyharbor and ZETA, though Tesseract's first album is also quite melodic (and maybe Sonder?).

Not sure this band can ever top their first two, especially Altered State.

absent hearts and white moth black butterfly are also great stuff. i think most of dans best work was done outside of this band outside of maybe one, and the skyharbor debut was his best

I loved Atone and The Cost of Dreaming was good too. Need to give 1000 Wings another chance

And I'll definetly check Skyharbor. I might not be excited about Tesseract, but the new album seems like a good occasion to check the projects associated with them

Take the first 4 songs off Altered State, 2/3 songs off Polaris and this and that's all I care about tbh. Not that bad tbh, but it makes listening to their albums frustrating.

I don't hate One, but it's just not the kind of stuff I want to listen to anymore.
