Come back to me when they use a real man's instrument like the bassoon

Idk why I feel this way but for me this is basically everything I like about Fallujah but without a ton of the stuff about Fallujah that irritates me
|

You have summed up my thoughts.
|
| |
It's like the opposite for me, takes away all the good Fallujah bits

good album

Both are solid bands, Fallujah is maybe a little more based on the tech death side of metal. They also sometimes just lose all their direction and noodle around too much for my liking.

I think a big part of it is definitely the production
Like Fallujah’s production makes my head hurt (although Dreamless was an improvement), whereas this album’s production does not make my head hurt
And there it is
|
| |
Both bands have some of the worst production ever
|
| |
The drums on this sound like shit. Those tick-tick-tick double kick runs hurt my ears.

I genuinely can't explain why... It just really does in places, despite not really sounding anything like it timbre-wise.
And mate I know it's one of the best video game soundtracks out there. This isn't quality comparable or id be jumping for joy

The solos here are quite enjoyable. I like the goofy effects they use for them on A Home and Old Nothing.
|
| |
1. write some syncopated chug
2. pay a session guy to improvise some sax licks over them
3. sing a bit off key but not so off key that people go "ugh"
4. add keyboards
"5.0 - A genuine classic"

Jac just basically outlined what bugs me about how people are creaming so much over this album
