Today's a good day for real death
I've only heard this twice and I don't think I'll (want to) listen to it a lot this year.

how does it feel to be SOULLESS

Lucid, it could perhaps be because I'm fortunate enough to not have yet experienced the death of someone I care about so I can't relate directly to the emotions presented here.

Same Boney, but this still saddens me, partially as I love Phil and his music and so its saddening that this has happened to him, and partially as his detailed personalised account makes it so real; its like 'damn, so thats what its like', which makes the inevitability of me experiencing it with certain people that I'm close to more forbidding and concerning than just the vague notion that it will happen. Not criticising the fact that it doesn't get you like that, just explaining how it gets me

I see where you're coming from Asleep. Reality is that we're taking about emotional responses so it doesn't really make sense to over intellectualize them.

Agreed with you there. Also, I should add that whilst this does upset me I am with you in that a lot of my interest in the project comes from the intricacy of how he describes his experiences, rather than a visceral raw emotional response like I'd get from other projects

@Boney: I'm in the same place actually, I can't personally relate to any of these death-themed albums. However I'm currently avoiding listening to this as an act of self-care.

i think forcing yourself to see this kind of perspective, whether you have or haven't gone through it yourself, is a healthy way to keep yourself in check emotion-wise

'i think forcing yourself to see this kind of perspective, whether you have or haven't gone through it yourself, is a healthy way to keep yourself in check emotion-wise'
Totally, I think emotionally investing in art is a good way to build up some empathy and gain some insights you wouldn't otherwise get naturally.
Some people can handle emotions in one art medium they don't like to deal with in another (people will read a really violent book but not watch a really violent film, they'll watch a very sad film but don't like 'depressing' music, etc). I try and actively avoid doing that, you should be able to appreciate different emotional content across every medium imo.
