I know the drummer said they intend to make more music together but Simpson had to focus a bit on Busted etc etc. Seems also like Fightstar is more like a passion project and Busted is more like a job, which makes sense because it makes him money to do things he wants to do more

I think they are pretty much done, I don't think they ever "took off" like they intended and the other members have moved on to other things while waiting for Charlie to be available. Now he's doing this President thing, I think that pretty much ends Fightstar. It's a shame as their Wembley show last year built hype and expectation they might finally come back again

Pretty much.
Alex and Dan are busy with Gunship, and Fightstar isn't really known in the wider rock/metal scene (aside from original fans or latecomers), so it isn't really surprising that Charlie opted for a new 'anonymous cult genre' band (with very obvious marketing advantages right off the bat) over resurrecting a band that barely anyone listens to anymore.
