"finally gave this a spin, and hmm. think it's a really interesting case of messy/irregular songwriting that brings a charm and depth to tracks just as often as it kinda sabotages them"

Can you actually elaborate on how it sabotages them?

As much as I like to dunk on Johnny sometimes, this isn't really true.

Let the record show that this band had better melodies and harmonies as a prog death band.

I literally never was on this site during the days you were referring to and I love Black Sabbath and think Mac DeMarco is lame.

My taste is birthed from the shit I grew up on mainly and I never discovered Wipers, Minutemen etc. from this site considering that I didn't even know that this site existed when I first heard about Minutemen in 2012 from a friend of mine. But I'm not really interested in having a pissing contest especially if you're gonna imply I like a bunch of bands that I don't care about/have no intention of even trying and lump me in with Johnny.

All I'm saying is that you literally just base your overall feelings on Alt/Indie on the most stereotypical shit. Cool that you also grew up on good shit for Indie but your calling it on the overall "wimp music lol father John misty ecksdee" along with the most unimaginably shitty demeanor is just as irritating and narrow minded as Johnny going "lol boomer metal acdc ecksdee". The fact that you "know the good shit" and still wanna die on this hill is just beyond my understanding. Like I get Sput likes to jerk off the shitty modern examples but sheesh.

Jesus your comments become more and more of an incomprehensible mess with every response I make. Johnny is an annoying prick when it comes down to any Hard Rock or Metal from before 1991 just as you are an annoying prick about Indie and Alternative. I'm much happier saying I love Indie Rock and Power Metal completely regardless of them both having a significant chunk of styles that aren't very appealing to me than doing literally whatever the fuck you're doing.

Even if they did actually vary up their melodies and riffs on stuff like SotS which would make me fine with the simplification I still doubt I'd like it as much as this or With Fear.
