It wasn't run of the mill when it came out. At the Gates and many others based their careers on this tone. The "buzzsaw" on this record was the basis of the original Swedish death metal sound (pre Gothenburg/melodeath revolution).

Nice Flug. The guitar textures are phenomenal for music of this kind. They kind of "glide" through the entire album.
