this website (myself included at times) used to have a rather unhealthy obsession with elitism

I've had some interactions in the last few years with the main (ab)user in those early pages. Absolutely nothing like page 3-4. Like I knew he had a reputation in a similar vein but wow

I like to think the sput metal zeitgeist has largely improved since then

we were all like that back in the day. the ringleader was probably rasputin, and, while he did have good taste and introduced this place to a lot of great albums, we all flirted with his metal archives style elitism a little too much. i guess that’s what happens when you give a bunch of terminally online young males a safe space to indulge in shittiness too frequently Lmao.
luckily it seems like most of us grew out of it and aren’t major dicks anymore.

i'm unironically cool as well as ironically cool. (by the way my comments way back then were pure farce but i think that's pretty obvious)
i also brought the glory of ulcerate to sputnik when EIF released. i remember being bullied when i claimed it would be regarded as a dm classic in the decades to come. of course i didn't know more than anyone else did at the time, nor do i now, but i did know it was really fucking good. also brought u guys defeated sanity... i'm a man of the people

the real question is, are we allowed to like this now?

the real real is that we all used this site to offload boredom and say a bunch of shit that didn't matter or mean anything. it was the golden age of the internet after all
|
| |
i miss it so much. genuinely this is one of the only places left that really feels like the pre-2010 internet I grew up on.
it would be so much better now too that I can post without being a constant angsty dumbass. oh well, all is lost to time.

it was the slays for days crew in general, that blog was great, but needless to say some of the people there weren’t the friendliest bunch at times

Sounds like a 2023 remaster of page 3-4 lol

stating the facts
i mean you must appreciate the farce of someone claiming to discover a band and enlightening a people because they added it to a music database or simply heard it before other people. especially a band that was formed before my dna was. i'm practically in the band at that point
