There are all sorts of '5' albums that are 'growers' or are tough to get in to... Take Jane Doe, for example. Most of sputnik considers that a classic, yet it is extremely hard to get into.
i agree. ratings are always subjective, however, for the sake of the review itself I wouldn't be in there commenting on how it might be "hard to swallow." You might reference the fact that some see it that way, but to say it directly sorta throws the review off imo
a 5, for me, is pretty much a 5 right out of the gate. i understand everyone has their own opinion of what a "5" is, but i feel like you pretty much described a "5" or a "classic" in your opening when you mentioned White Pony, an album mostly everyone regards as setting the bar
