I think the new album is pretty great but it's just way too long... At least Dream Theater really did something new this time around. A New Beginning is probably my favourite song

on my second spin of the new one and im enjoying it more than i did the first time around......i do enjoy the piano

the piano is enjoyable. the bad thing is there are too many moments I catch myself singing ''If I DIEEEEEE TOMMOROWWWWWWW I'LL BE ALRIIIIIIGHT.....'', because many of the songs here sound similar to that particular one. I like that they did sth different, they left aside the noodling and are more song-oriented, but I really believe that they should have tried harder.

The new album's cover art is horrdendous
The record itself isn't an atrocity by an stretch, but it's not something I would listen to voluntarily. Although this is coming from a non-fan, so take that as you will.

I like this album and Change of Seasons, don't think I need much more from this band, though I've been meaning to jam Awake for a long time.

Actually, Disappear is one of my faves. I'm not normally a big fan of Dream Theater's ballads, but songs such as Space Dye Vest and Disappear are beautiful and compelling exceptions imo

A look at what could have been but alas we don't live in a perfect world. Also its the only album where I don't want to slug LaBrie in the face for the vocal performance. Guy knew the concept of restraint at least somewhat back when.
