Can't stand this vocalists screams, totally ruins it for me.

yeah im basically in the same boat with you in terms of it sounding the same as colors.



bad for 2 reasons



1) lack of progression

2) it sounds like colors

but see look, here's the thing with me:

yes, it sounds very much like colors, meaning you could argue that it shows no progression, right?

but then listen to colors; songs are like an hour long and have all these crazy country breaks, aztec influences, etc.

if you ask me, it seems like there's nothing else for btbam to progress to.

palace, that would be great, but i highly doubt the majority of btbam fans would enjoy that. it would be like a slap in their faces if the new disc was full of that.

well, i rated colors higher than circus, i hope that doesn't make me an idiot?

i would really love to hear btbam do a take on your idea, but depending on how long it takes for them to make the next album, it seems unlikely. but then again, i feel like this record did have more slower bits, just not the way you described.

qwe, that's a good argument, but can you say the same thing about other bands? why should the new muse album get a 2 because it was all experimentation? and how about converge? they've been doing the same style of music every album, yet their albums remain at a high rating.

i don't think it's any band's job to cover every kind of music, that would be ridiculous.

i can understand that Palace; i guess it all comes to down to which btbam we prefer. is it the older grindier btbam, or the new wankier btbam. as you can tell by my rating, i prefer the wankier btbam.

yeah i see your point but progression and changing styles in music is only one criterion by which i judge the music i listen to.

and converge does change their sound with each release anyways.

oh and

I always enjoyed about BTBAM when I first got into them was that they weren't like Dream Theater and other Prog Metal bands who focus more on playing and less on writing, now they've become the very opposite of what I liked about them and it bothers me.

But that'd be a good thing, a huge portion of BTBAM's fans are idiots who only listen for the "shredding" that's why they rate Colors higher than The Silent Circus.

At least you got one thing right. TSC >>>> Colors.

No, that's no the reason I rated Colors higher. I just happen to like the prog and avant-garde side of BTBAM more than the raw agressive one they show in The Silent Circus.
