This is probably my least favourite Manchester Orchestra album, which says a lot for the quality of their discography. Not sure why, outside of the first 3 tracks and I Can Feel a Hot One, there isn't a lot on here that resonates with me. Shake It Out is fierce though, I love it!

That section blends all into one for me. Like it sounds fine, but nothing sticks and it sounds a bit samey. Everything To Nothing has that epic bridge though, I'll give you that! Easily one of the best segments of the entire album.

A Black Mile is their best obviously, but this and the debut (one of the best debuts ever — Where Have You Been, I Can Barely Breathe and Colly Strings are esp mind blowing for a debut) are battling it out for second.
And Cope deserves more credit. Top Notch is their best opener, fukyeah. Though I will say if The Gold was the actual opener on black mile (kinda feels like it in a way, but alas…), then the gold would be their best opener.
I haven’t listened to Simple Math in so long. It’s good but I always thought it was a bit overrated. Should give it another whirl, been years. T/t is the highlight for sure.
