Lol at Austin's rating. I've never disagreed more in my entire life.

I know, Doolittle is my third favorite album! Seriously though how can you not find beauty in Follow The Map, Silent Flight, Sleeping Dawn, or Ashes in the Snow?

How can you like the vocals on The Milk Eyed Mender? I mean I adore them on Ys but tha shit's like child rape.

"you are there was pretty good but hearing you are there before it you knew exactly what hymn was going to sound like"
and unfortunately both are completely tedious, lifeless post-rock mimicry corpse dolls

Doolittle discussion in a Mono thread, haha, I'm proud.

Austin: okay, I concede, they suck at times, but I still love it

"they suck at times"=/="Album Rating: 4.5"
To me if an album proves to be inconsistent it's usually a 3.5.

Traces of nostalgia, and I don't listen to her primarily for her voice, so. On a relevant note: what didn't you like about this?

Edit: nevermind, I'm pretty sure I don't want to hear the response.

examples please

EDIT: My theory: Sputnik is a bunch of repressed teenagers intent on NOT enjoying life to the fullest and bringing each
other down in their own misery... anything that sounds remotely happy or fun must be struck down. Klappy gets out of
line every once in a while, we need to do a better job of chaining down his enthusiasm for life, and fun.

General consensus, no point in getting into it, but it's true for many.

if something tries really hard to be happy and uplifting, everyone is very quick to call it cheesy

but if something is just depressive and dark and bleak all the way through, it is genius

i know what you mean but i don't think that's the case with mono. a lot of their ideas just come across as really contrived. like that tremolo melody in ashes in the snow. i mean yeah its a bootiful song and i like it but goddamn.

But the sputnik population loved fun.! Clearly that means we are capable of a positive outlook on life. Sometimes.

"Let Down" by Radiohead is one of the happiest songs ever.
