it’s in its honky tonk influence that the song thrives, like the call n response instrumental section between the guitar lick and the keyboard. It’s just pure joy/hype which is an element of a lot of songs on this record. The staccato keys are great especially when put thru that crazy ass blues filter or synthesizer or whatever that sound is I’m hearing (it resonates past when all the instruments drop out in the end), it’s just a really fun rock song with a psych blues tinge to it

I agree Yoko Ono is better than John Lennon. Her vocals that sound like a mosquito flying around inside my ear canal are the best thing ever.

"A song, most broadly, is a single (and often standalone) work of music that is typically intended to be sung by the human voice with distinct and fixed pitches and patterns using sound and silence and a variety of forms that often include the repetition of sections. The word "song" is widely misused by people in the popular music industry to describe any musical composition, whether sung or played only by instruments."

Today I learned that instrumentals are not songs...

@nolerthebowler: I don't know, when Paul manically shouts "I would like you to dance, take a ch-ch-ch-chance" I mostly feel a painful despair in my heart

The part from 1:48-1:55 is a brief moment of brilliance, but most of "Birthday" is just like... just I can't.

Birthday is a great song as long as you aren’t too serious a person

Must be kind of annoying that they wrote the best blues song as a style exercise.

I always pop a stiffy around 3:15. It's not elegant I admit, but it's genuine.
