there must be alot of ADHD people on this site because I cant find anything Opeth has done boring except for one particular part in a Morningrise song. Especially not Harvest. But then again, im completely biased as they are my favorite band.

Seriously, I can respect why a LOT of people think Opeth are so good, but what you're saying is what almost every Opeth fan says to me when I say I think they're ovverated, and it's a bullshit excuse, not liking them has nothing to do with attention, my favourite album is one fourty minute song and one of my favourite releases from last year was an hour long with two songs, both are more demanding than anything Opeth has done and I easily prefer those two albums over anything Opeth has done or a lot of other bands too.

So, my point is, saying that the reason people think Opeth are boring is because of their attention span is bollucks.

I listened more closely to Blackwater Park then I do to most albums the first time through because this was my first Opeth experience and I've never heard anything bad about them. 5 listens in I still didnt get much. I'm not a br00tal kind of guy so his satanic vocals didnt do much for me. His clean voice for how "fantastic" some people say it is is good but passionless.

It's good but no where near great or anything I'd feel impelled to listen to ever again.

I have a new appreciation for Bleak, I threw it on my ipod on the way to school today. The heavy section with clean vocals and the neat, evil riff in the background, cant get it out of my head. Of course, the characterization I just made applies to any Opeth song...

That long growl is The Funeral Portrait is absolutley bathed in evilness. So is the end of Bleak. And the title track. And pretty much all of The Leper Affinity. And pretty much most of the album.
