Nah, I think it gets dark, it's just not consistently dark, you pointed out 'Nothing's Impossible' yourself which is one of my favourite DM songs.

Eh, they kinda needed a break from that one - if I recall correctly they were doing the Goldfrapp remix or whatev, which is cool but tbh I'd love the full-on Vio version if they do bring it again in the near future

Ya, that one and Pain That I'm Used to they've been doing versions based around remixes - for a time World In My Eyes was heavily drawing from one of the remixes of that as well tho I don't remember which one

My favorite Depeche Mode remix may be the "Jeep Rock" mix of In Your Room - unless Butch Vig's zephyr mix counts cos god damn I like that more than the album cut (sue me!)
Flood's mix of Freelove is also worth a listen tho I wouldn't say I preferred it to the one on the album

I think both versions of In Your Room work for both their respective reasons i.e. Zephyr Mix is the best 'single'-sounding take, but the album version works best as the 'definitive' version (or at least, the best one in a live setting).
I really like Air's version of Home too, they performed that version on the Playing the Angel tour.
