the real reason this album has a higher average than the deftones and converge ones u mentioned is because those bands got bitchforked pretty hard
so a lot of their "fans" only really know one album, you know which ones, the ones that every site and youtuber always references when they talk about top whatever albums asdfghjkl;
they dont peep the other good stuff even tho in converge's case they have a lot of albums that are about on par with jane doe tbh
gojira hasnt been bitchforked so whatever fans they have, they've grown organically although even there i'd say the first 2 albums are underappreciated but thats always gonna happen to some extent
