Judas Priest isn't light years away from them, but yeah, Ozzy era Sabbath packs the greatest riffs of the universe.

He made some of the most iconic riffs of all time for sure.

Even during the Tony Martin era, he's packed a few underrated riffs especially on Eternal Idol.

I bet Iommi eats riffs for breakfast then shits them out through great music.

"Sure, they've never made another "Into The Void" riff without Ozzy again, but there's damn good material as a whole from Dio's time with them."

Like I said, even if you do think Dio-era Sabbath had some "damn good material as a whole", you can't argue that the riffs were anywhere near the same level as the riffs on their first 6 albums. Dio-era Sabbath was far less riff-based for one thing.

"Even during the Tony Martin era, he's packed a few underrated riffs especially on Eternal Idol."

A few underrated riffs maybe, but again none that deserve to mentioned in the same breath as his iconic riffs of the classic era.

Dio-era was more emphasized on Dio's voice.

"Judas Priest isn't light years away from them"

Honestly with the possible exception of a few riffs from Sad Wings and one or two here and there from their other 70's albums I don't think Priest's riffs were even remotely close to Iommi's.

Iommi is excellent but my ears bow to Mustaine and Chuck Schuldiner. they are just right for me.

Megadeth is of course my favorite band.

My bad, should have said first 6. Not a big Dio era fan.
