I know I’ll sound dumb and pretentious but I think it’s one of those Shklovskian “defamiliarization” things where a simple idea—a pool! that’s shaped like a circle!—is made more complex and unrecognizable by language, usually a fun sort of clever game for the artist, reminds me of “oil of every pearl’s un-insides”

I listened to this album over and over when grinding it out and teaching myself programming, years ago. This music really lends itself to that sort of study. You might not think it would, but it definitely helped me to escape from the stress of everyday things and focus on learning.
